DIY Crunchy Slime! | MOTHERHOOD

Has the slime craze dwindled down? Honestly, I don't know. I still see a ton of slime kits being sold at Target and local craft stores. But why buy it when you can make it yourself?
If you have these ingredients at home, it is definitely worth a try :)

Ingredients:

6 oz. Elmer's School Glue
1/2 tablespoon Baking Soda
1 tablespoon Water
1 1/2 tablespoon Contact Lens Solution
(IMPORTANT: make sure it contains boric acid and sodium borate)
1/4 cup Beads
Food coloring and Glitter, if desired

Instructions:

Add glue to a bowl. Stir in baking soda and then water (if you want stretchy slime) using a spoon.

Stir in contact solution SLOWLY. This is the activator, so you should notice it start to get firm as you continue stirring.

Contact lens solution is an activator that transforms your glue mixture into slime! -- in case you were wondering.

Add in beads, food coloring, and glitter (if desired).
We didn't have any beads, so I substituted with baking sprinkles. The colors from the sprinkles dissolved in the solution so food coloring wasn't needed. But Everly still wanted to add it in, so we added just 2 drops of the red dye.

Knead with your hands, and continue until slime forms!

If it’s super sticky, you can add more contact solution as needed. Eventually, you’ll get a crunchy slime to play with!

Our was OBVIOUSLY NOT perfect, haha! Trail and error, am I right?

It was still a little runny, but only because I didn't have enough time to knead before Everly jumped in and wanted to just play with it.

You can always add a little less glue or add more contact lens solution to change the consistency.
I also read on a few websites that water is optional. Only add if you want stretchy slime.

DISCLAIMER:
Adults should handle all chemicals. If you have sensitive skin, wear gloves while playing.
Be sure to wash hands before and after use.  If you notice any skin irritation discontinue use immediately.

Have you made slime before? Let me know in the comments. I know love to know what you would change! :)

Definitely messy but still a fully enjoyable project!
